PENTA 34
A New, Larger PENTACUT Insert for Economical Grooving,
Parting and Recessing
Following the very successful performance in parting and grooving of the PENTA 24 pentagonal insert, ISCAR has developed the PENTA 34 - a larger insert, for up to 10 mm depth of cut.
Like the smaller PENTACUT insert, the PENTA 34 can be used for multifunction applications including grooving, parting, recessing and chamfering.
The new family features:
● A stronger insert for higher machining parameters.
● A modified C-type chipformer with an expanded feed range of
0.05-0.25 mm/rev.
● Excellent straightness and surface quality, especially on groove
bottoms and sidewalls.
● Very rigid clamping design.
● Five cutting edges, which provide the most advantageous price
per cutting edge.
PENTA 34 Inserts
ISCAR’s PENTA 34 inserts with a new PB chipformer feature a
single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle,
and a honed edge.
It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge.
The new chipformer was designed for machining soft materials.
It is an excellent solution for parting bearing steel and other very
ductile materials. It can be used at low feed: 0.03 to 0.10 mm/rev.
The combination of the new chipformer and IC908 grade provides
excellent chipbreaking and tool life results.
The PENTA 34-PB is available in a 1.5 to 3.0 mm width range,
made from the versatile IC908 PVD coated grade.
The new family extends the application range of ISCAR’s most
economical grooving and parting PENTA 34 inserts.
The PENTA 34-PB, when compared to a competitor’s tool,
is a winning solution for machining any soft and ductile material.
